Sunriver


Sunriver is a tranquil community located among the impressive central Oregon landscape. Purchased by the U.S. Government in 1942, the scenic land was a training facility used by the Army Corps of Engineers. Built to be a self-contained city, Camp Abbot opened in 1943 and trained thousands of soldiers in bridge building, amphibious assault, and road and canal construction. Many of the trained soldier engineers continued on to France and Germany during World War II. After the end of the war, Camp Abbot was abandoned and later renovated into the Great Hall.

Drive 30 minutes to enjoy snow activities at the highest skiable elevation in all of Oregon or Washington at Mount Bachelor. Mount Bachelor is also open during the warmer months for mountain biking, disc golf and hiking.
